Coachman’s Social and Economic Development 2013
We at Coachman take our social responsibility very seriously. We believe that educating our youth will open new
worlds and possibilities for them and, in the long term, contribute to a successful and capable nation by
empowering them with knowledge from a young age. With this vision in mind, we hope that they will strive to build
a better South Africa and give back to the community by creating jobs for everyone.
On the 23rd of April 2013, a highly motivated team from Coachman visited Drake Konka Primary School in Ivory
Park, Midrand, and donated reading books for the students as well as exercise books for the teachers.
With guidance from the school principal, we were able to identify the areas which would benefit the most from this
donation.
At the moment, the school library is too small to accommodate all the students and, in the future, the school aims
to have a mini library for each of the Grade 1 to Grade 3 classes. In this way, the students would have easy access
to the books. We hope that Coachman’s contribution will encourage the students to begin reading at an early age
and nurture a life-long love for the written word.
As mentioned, we also donated workbooks for the teachers as we understand how hard it is to cope with the
workload they have today. We hope that these books will assist them in delivering quality education to the
learners.
We also supplied a few new books to the school’s existing library. We hope that the students will enjoy reading all
the new stories and be encouraged to write their own!
In each book Coachman pasted a little note with the following inspiring message: Discover a new world through
reading!
This book was sponsored by Coachman as part of their Social and Economic Development Initiative in February
2013.
Just as you are able to discover a fantasy world through reading, you can also explore South Africa with a
Coachman coach!
A child learns to dream when their minds are nurtured by the magical, fantasy world found in books. We hope their
dreams will continue to grow and that, one day, they will be able to give back to the community and continue to
create jobs for all. Hopefully, they will also be inspired to explore South Africa and become ambassadors for our
beautiful country.
